Me & My soul

Raindrops splattering on my windowpane,
Felt like someone calling out to me in pain.
That sound was familiar, but I hadn't heard it in years,
Feeling that pinch again, my eyes made way for tears.

For so many years, my smile had that charm,
My voice never faltered; it remained calm.
In an effort to make others cheer,
I forgot about my falling tear.

All these years,
I ignored the voice when it called,
I saw it but still I ignored.
Tears rolled down my face to show its pain,
I was happy entertaining others, and the tears went in vain.

To my surprise,
It asked me one day when I was alone,
Do you know I am your soul and not your clone.
Making others happy was not a crime,
But all I asked was your time.
